Electrical Power in Africa

Electricity in Africa is an interesting topic that can have a huge impact on those folks living in Africa. With approximately 1 billion people, Africa accounts for over a sixth of the world's population. Given the extent of this population, it is of not that Africa only generates 4% of the world's electricity. However, Africa's electricity consumption is predicted to grow at a rate of 3.4 % per/year until the year 2020. Now interesting issues around this development arise. Issues like: black empowerment, electrification of rural and peri-urban areas, electricity theft, and free electricity for the poor. These are issues that must be faced.
